Hi, my name is Jenthel Reyes, and I'm writing this on behalf of my Lola (grandma in Tagalog), Thelma Reyes.
On Monday, July 14th, a devastating flash flood tore through my Lola’s home. As water rushed in through the basement windows, she did everything she could to save her belongings. But the flood quickly rose—reaching nearly 9 feet and damaging everything in its path, including 40 years' worth of memories, essentials, and irreplaceable possessions.
My Lola is turning 74 this weekend. Instead of celebrating, she’s left trying to rebuild from nothing. To make matters worse, her insurance company denied her claim—leaving her with no financial help to recover what she’s lost.
My Lola has always been the one to say, “I’m okay,” even when she isn’t—putting her family first, helping her children, grandchildren, and community whenever she could. Now, I want to return that love and support to her.
If you're able to donate or share this fundraiser, it would mean the world to us. Every bit helps. Let’s help my Lola feel okay again—truly.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
