Hi beautiful community. Special Gifts of Happiness is back for a 4th year and this year with a different objective. As some of you may know, since 2019 we have been raising funds around the holidays to be able to provide an organization with their Holiday gifts. We have provided over the last 3 years, gifts for over 180 residents of a low-income Nursing home in laval 2 years in a row, for over 200 young homeless men from le Refuge des Jeunes de Montréal, and this year we are working to raise money for le refuge Logifem that homes over 50 single women or mothers with children. Over the last 3 years, we raised over 12,000$!!!
Logifem is a home for women who are seeking refuge for different reasons, some are immigrant women seeking refuge, some are women fleeing dangerous households and some are getting back on their feet from the street. Logifem works hard to give these women, often with children, a home to feel welcome, live and most importantly stay safe. We visited Logifem, and this year, what they really need is not gifts. They recently had their communal freezer break down and cannot afford a new one. They are also missing mattresses as currently some women and children are sleeping on single beds! They are also missing things like: small appliances, woman clothing and shoes, plates and things that are needed for these women to live in the home. Our priority is raising money to buy them a new freezer and mattresses. Thank you all again in advance as I know every year we come together as community to reach this amazing goal!
