Logan’s Lesson

It’s my son Logan’s 8th birthday today. He is an incredibly sweet boy with autism and a big heart. He also has a big lesson to learn about being careful with bikes.

Logan learned to ride a bike without training wheels just last month and has been out nearly every evening practicing his new skill. He was out with friends two days ago and lost control of his bike which slammed into this friend’s family vehicle, causing some scratches and dents.

No one was hurt, and Logan came right away to tell me what happened. He took full responsibility, and together we went to apologize and of course offer to pay the damages. The car owner couldn’t have been sweeter and is working with us to get the best repair quote.

Logan and his sister had a lemonade stand yesterday to raise money (I told him there would be no punishment because it was an accident and because he acted so grown up and responsible in how he handled it, but there would be a consequence on contributing to the repair cost), and he had already given me the $85 in allowance he has accumulated, without complaint or question.

The first quote for auto body work came in at $2.059.54 and while we are waiting for other quotes, it seems this is pretty fair according to my network.

I don’t have the money, or any credit to draw from, and I have no idea how I’ll pull the money together. I’m a struggling entrepreneur, on the hunt for a full time job.

I decided to go on a limb and see if this Go Fund Me page would help us in coming up with the money for the repairs, because I’m honestly out of options!
