My name is Logan Conklin and I am a Boy Scout with Clarksville's Troop 4010, chartered by the Town of Clarksville.
My Eagle Scout project is to install new, permanent trail markers in Clarksville's Lapping Park. The park includes more than 4 miles of trails for area residents and visitors to explore. Although the trails are beautiful and well maintained, the signage used throughout the trails have been damaged by vandalism or are just showing their age.
Working with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department, I plan to install 25+ permanent trail markers throughout the trail system. I will also repair and repaint the 4 existing trailhead signs within the park.
Here is a picture of the new trail markers. They will be 4x4x6 wooden posts with metal trail markers and a metal cap. They will be set in concrete to prevent theft.
This project will include assigning a numbering system to the permanent markers, that will allow visitors to provide a location number when calling 911. A map with marker locations will also be provided to Clarksville dispatch to reference if they receive and emergency calls.
I chose this project because I've grown up using Lapping Park, including walking the trails, attending fall harvest hayrides, and attending Summer Explorers camp there.
I hope you will consider donating to my project. Thank you for your consideration!
