Log Cabin Cafe recovery

Donation protected
We need your help. The Log Cabin Cafe built in 1937 has been the face of Slivergate Montana ever since. As one of two of the town’s first log structures it is a mere 1 mile from Yellowstone National Park’s North East entrance. This much loved cafe and townsfolk heavily rely on the park for tourism and as you have likely read the park suffered what has been called the 1,000 year flood. In fact both entrances in the North, its East and West entrance suffered massive washouts that have closed the north section to road traffic and tourism. The town of Silvergate was flooded as well by the raging Soda Butte Creek with water waist deep that damaged many town structures.

Silvergate and the Log Cabin Cafe have been devastated by these events that has effectively shut off the park tourism we need to survive. While we have been able to get the cafe cleaned up and marginally operational we simply don’t have the tourism and business we need to keep the cafe alive.  For over 85 years this "log cafe" has become near and dear to so many people, from its owners, to its staff, to its thousand of customers spanning many generations. The cafe has weathered the depression, a canyon fire, national budget park closures and most recently two years of Covid for which we hope this season would allow us to recover from. However, the latest flooding on June 14th has closed off our end of the park's access and has hit us the hardest. We very much need your support now more than ever.

About me and the “Log Cabin Cafe” campaign. My name is Cherie and I set up this campaign to help my cousin Laurie and her staff. The money we raise together will go directly to her in full to keep this cherished cafe alive and make the need repairs. We really hope the park can make its road repairs quickly but we have been told to plan for the loss of the entire summer season and many people have already changed their summer travel plans to simply avoid the park. We need your support and any amount you could spare would be incredibly helpful for us to save this much loved “Log Cafe.”  From all of us, we thank you for the consideration. Cherie
