Lockhurst Teachers
For The Lockhurst Teachers
With the UTLA strike entering it's second week, our Lockhurst teachers (29 total) are going on their second week without pay. They spent the first week in the rain and cold, in ponchos and umbrellas, striking every single day for our kids to have better educational conditions.
We all know what the details of why the strike is going on, and what UTLA is fighting for. We also know that teachers are already not paid enough for the jobs they do, and now ours are going at least a week or more without a paycheck.
So many parents have joined the picket line, helped make signs, brought snacks and drinks. They've also asked how they can help financially and quite a few people asked me about making this GoFundMe campaign. Gift cards, Venmo dollars and Uber funds are great, but they're hard to divide equally between 29 educators. And while Starbucks cards are great, sometimes a little help toward groceries or a cable bill is a greater help than coffee. So please consider donating if you can, whatever you can.
Lockhurst has 29 educators on strike. Whatever we raise on this drive, we'll divide equally between all 29 teachers. Please note that this is NOT a PTO event or fundraising drive - this is simply a group of Lockhurst parents trying to help our teachers. Please spread the word - they're fighting for our kids, so let's try our best to give something back!
