Hello! Our names are Daphne Dalton and Brady Koren. We are local South Fork High School students that are a part of the International Baccalaureate Programme. We are starting our Passion Service Project. As the USSCMC is so close to our hearts we have decided to frame our project around sailing. We have been participating in the High School Varsity Racing program for many years and we have grown to think of the center as our second home. This community is very special to us and we want to address a growing problem as the program expands. Our goals these past years as USSCMC high school sailors is to grow our program, for we get little recognition at our schools.

Now that our team has grown, this sailing season there are multiple sailors in need of cold weather gear. On the water it gets very cold and our teammates are in need of your help! We use water protectant gear to keep us warm and ultimately safe. Cold weather gear is a necessity for safe participation during the winter season. The price of foul weather gear can be pricey and that is why we are calling on your help!

Sailing is ranked number 10 in the world for most expensive sports according to sportsbrief.com. There is a lot of gear necessary to enjoy safe sailing. The lowest price we compiled for a full set of gear is around $300 per sailor! We understand that this is a big investment and we want to collect donations for gear in order to make sailing more accessible to people who might not have the luxury to spend such a high amount. Our goal is to fundraise around $4000 worth of new gear to provide for 14 current and future sailors. We want everybody to be safe in the sport we all love!
