We are a community of local, volunteer parent, carers and people with lived experience of disability. You can join us on Facebook, here

Thanks to your generous support, we fund and coordinate local projects to help educate, inform, support and advocate for island children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and their families.

Our recent projects (2023) include:
  • Creating a physical and digital resource booklet that has been delivered to every school, college, academy and learning institution on the island
  • Funding, coordinating and delivering resource packs including 3 books for every island school, college and academy.
  • Funding and delivering a training session with Yvonne Newbold, MBE, on Anxiety Led Behaviours in SEND Children to staff invited from every island school, college and academy.
  • Information and resource sharing and signposting

2024 projects include:
  • Creating a resource support booklet for parent/carers
  • Co-hosting and organising and event regarding the IW Local Authority's 'safety valve' agreement with the department of education, with very special guest, specialist send solicitor and campaigner Michael Charles.
  • Information sessions for parent/carers
  • Creating a peer-2-peer parent-carer support group
  • Information and resource sharing and signposting

2025 Projects include:
  • Researching and exposing problems with the Portsmouth Neurodiversity Profiling Tool being trialed on the IW and in other areas across the country.
  • Funding Neurodiversity Affirming Support Workshops for parent carers, delivered by Autism Inclusion Matters IW
  • Parent-carer representation at the SEND Partnership Board
  • Parent carer meet-ups
  • Parent-carer public meeting with Richard Quigley MP
  • Ongoing work re SEND reforms as part of the SEND Rights Alliance

  • Information and resource sharing and signposting.

We know as parent/carers that no one else advocates for our children like we do and that we are stronger united together. We believe we CAN make a positive difference in the lives of local kids when we work together to create a kinder, more understanding, accepting world, and that is what we are trying to do.

If you would like to and are able, please consider supporting our work. We are all volunteers and we receive no government funding. We can only do what we do because of you.

Thank you.
