Local Love Gives Back
Over the last few days, I’ve watched
the Local Love group grow exponentially, and I have been filled with a sense of gratitude.
Seeing our community rally together in
support of our local businesses and makers, has been tremendously heart warming. Seeing all of you embrace this movement is proof that there is strength in numbers, and that together we can make a big difference. This got me and my partner to thinking: what else is this group capable of?
In the spirit of the season, I would like to see the Local Love group give back to our community. We are so fortunate to be able to purchase gifts this holiday season, and help our local businesses and makers at the same time.
I feel that collectively, as a group that has now surpassed 8000 members, we have a responsibility to give back to those less fortunate than ourselves. If each one of us were to donate only $1, we could make a huge impact on the lives of so many. $1 would hardly be missed by any of us, yet combined it can purchase good food, clothing and even gifts under the tree for those in need. Christmas is a particularly difficult time to be in crisis, especially this year with the addition of Covid 19 concerns.
All funds raised through this fundraiser will be used to purchase food, clothing, toys and other necessary items. Hampers will then be made and delivered to three charitable organizations.
All items purchased will be done so at local establishments of course! You would be making a difference in two ways: Helping those in need AND helping our local businesses while you do it.
My partner and I will purchase all items locally, make hampers and drop them off at the three organizations. If we surpass our goal, we will include a monetary amount with each hamper. We will account for 100% of the donations by providing photo documentation of all receipts. We will also be sure to post photos taken when the hampers are delivered.
We have chosen three organizations that provide direct support in a safe home environment.
These three charitable organizations are:
-Haven Kids House
(formerly crisis nursery)

-OUTSaskatoon’s Pride Home

-Saskatoon Interval House

Let’s show our local love, together, we can do this! ❤️
