Hi, I’m Kelly. I’m a single mom with an 11-month-old baby boy and two older daughters (18 and 17). We’ve been through a very challenging season, and I’m reaching out with humility and hope as I work to get our family stable again.
A few months ago, I made the difficult decision to leave a domestic-violence situation and end our lease for our safety. For nearly two months, my baby and I were camping on the beach, doing our best to get by until some wonderful friends reached out and offered us a place to stay. I’m deeply grateful for their kindness and generosity — but it’s only temporary, and I’m now working hard to rebuild our stability.
Before all this, I worked full-time in a demanding corporate role. I recently stepped down to part-time to protect my mental health and care for my baby. It was the right decision for our well-being, but it’s also meant a major cut in income, making it hard to afford even the basics.
Current Challenges
Right now, my car is at risk of repossession, and I owe about $4,000 to bring it current and avoid losing it. My registration and safety check will cost around $600, and the brakes recently started making noise — all while trying to balance work, parenting, and recovery.
I’m doing my best to apply for EBT/SNAP benefits, childcare assistance, and first month’s rent + deposit assistance so we can move into a safe, stable home. My former landlord has a unit available for us — I just need help covering the $2,200 for first month’s rent and deposit to make that move possible.
How You Can Help
Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a direct difference:
$4,000 – Car payment and repo balance to prevent loss of vehicle
$2,200 – First month’s rent & deposit for a new home
$600 – Car registration, safety check, and brake repair
$300 – Baby essentials (playpen, clothes, walking toys, books)
$250 – Emergency buffer (groceries, gas, childcare)
This brings my total goal to $7,350, which would help stabilize our transportation, secure housing, and cover essentials for my son’s care.
Even a share or a kind message means so much.
A Hopeful New Chapter
My baby boy turns 1 year old on November 17th. My wish is to give him a safe, peaceful home to grow in — a fresh start for both of us.
I’ve spent my career helping others solve problems; now, for the first time in a long while, I’m learning to ask for help myself.
From my heart — mahalo nui loa for reading, caring, and helping us rebuild.
Ku‘u aloha iā ‘oe. Mahalo nui.
With gratitude,
Kelly
