Local Guatemalan Children in Need

Hello beautiful beings! My name is Sasha Klementis. I have created this fundraiser on behalf of a dear friend, Pablo Culum here at the lake (Lake Atitlan) in Guatemala where I have the privilege of living, as a small token to give back to the incredibly beautiful and humble Mayan people that have welcomed me with open arms, despite not having much at all. Pablo is an incredible soul who, when not busy crafting beautiful hand made instruments or being with his own family, gives so selflessly to his organization- Ninos de Chuitinamit Luz. Children of the light. Pablo started this organization 4 years ago as a way to give back to orphaned children, or children of single mothers here in San Pablo La Laguna, Guatemala. He has been working with them, providing clothes, shelter, basic needs, education and a safe place to go for the last 4 years, but is now he need of external support as funds are low and the kids in this program (43) are at risk of going without the very basic necessities like SHOES on their feet and food on their plates, let alone anything for Christmas. My heart truly aches at the very thought of this. These kids have experienced earth shattering losses, unfathomable trauma and so much dysregulation. The poverty rate here is sky high and most families here go without even the most basic of needs. I feel that the least, I/we can do is to donate funds to give these kids an opportunity to have, at the very least, their basic needs met, as they so deserve and a chance to be in joy, love and slowly have the opportunity to heal, to be held and come into safety. It would be my deepest desire to raise enough money to provide these kids with the thing they requested the most, shoes (which is so heartbreaking in itself, yet sheds light on how different things are down here and how much these kids need us) AND also an opportunity to be fed properly (a lot of them don't get more than 1 meal of day, consisting of rice, beans and tortilla) AS WELL as a chance to continue their education and the opportunity to experience the joy of Christmas, to be able to be kids, to not have to worry when they will eat again or if they will be able to walk in safety. My goal is to raise at least $5000, but I would really really love to surpass that goal so that we, as a collective can continue to provide opportunities, love, support and a future for these beautifully sweet, kind and incredible children. There are 43 of them and that number keeps growing, so the more funds, the better.
