LMU Sigma Chi Derby Days 2022

This is a fundraising event held by our fraternity (Sigma Chi). We are raising money for the Santa Monic Rape treatment center, an organization that provides free services to those who have experience sexual assault.  We have raised money for them for over 15 years and have a relationship with their staff and board chairs who come and speak to our campus regularly. Next, we raise money for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation, which is the national philanthropic parter of Sigma Chi since 2012. Thirdly, we raise money for the Herbert Darling Memorial Scholarship. Herbert was an LMU student and member of Sigma Chi who passed away in 2006. We have supported this scholarship since then and Herbert family participates in this fundraise effort every year and comes out to LMU to speak to our chapter and the campus community. In regards to how this money is spent, once the transfer is complete, I will write all three of these organizations checks. For Santa Monica Rape treatment center, this money will go towards providing free services for those who have been sexually assaulted. The money donated to the Huntsman Cancer foundation will go towards cancer research, and for the Herbert Darling Memorial Scholarship, this money will be used to provided funding/scholarships for Students who apply.
