Anna Hamlett was born on January 16th with an extremely rare heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. She has two holes in her heart along with stenosis of her pulmonary artery, some valve problems, and the misplacement of the heart itself inside the chest cavity. These issues prevent Anna from getting the oxygen she needs so she’ll be having surgery at Vanderbilt in the next few months. She already underwent an emergency procedure to place a stent to help with blood flow until she can get big enough and strong enough for her open heart surgery. We don’t know when she will be well enough to come back to Chattanooga or how long they’ll need to keep her at Vanderbilt.
Anna’s parents, Christina and Marty Hamlett are under an enormous amount of stress trying to be by her side and support their other two school age children and pay the bills. Christina was placed on bed rest in November due to premature labor and Anna’s condition. Christina defied all odds by fighting off labor for months while we all prayed for a full term delivery. God answered that prayer and let this little miracle baby develop until she was 38 weeks! Marty has had to miss a lot of work over the past few months as medical emergencies became the norm for his little family. They are currently staying in Nashville with Anna, 3 hours from home, but the Ronald McDonald house there is under construction and has no room for them.
This fund has been created to help support them as they incur travel expenses such as housing, food costs, and gas in order to stay close to their baby girl. Anna’s big repair surgery will hopefully happen in the next few months and will also necessitate a hospital stay at Vanderbilt. The last thing this momma and daddy need to worry about right now is where they’ll lay their heads at night or whether they’ll have enough money to buy food or pay the electric bill at home.
We serve a Mighty God who is able to do abundantly more than we think or ask! Our prayer is that we would be able to take this worry completely off their shoulders so they can concentrate on caring for their newborn daughter. Please lift up baby Anna and her family in your prayers and consider making a gift to them in this time of need.
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:11
