# Help Little Vinnie Fight Leukemia Again

At just 5 years old, Vinnie is facing a fight for his life for a second time. After bravely battling leukemia before, he is now back in hospital undergoing intensive treatment again.

Over the past 4 weeks, Vinnie has endured more than a child should at his age. He has undergone chemotherapy and cancer treatments that have unfortunately caused serious complications, including sepsis, a jugular vein blood clot, unstable chemical levels, extreme pain, enlarged organs, toxic levels of billiruben, a fungal infection of the blood and severe inflammation of the bowels.

Since admission he has had medicine after medicine, 2 PICU stays, over 15 blood products, a CT scan, an echocardiogram, multiple ultrasounds, xrays and MRIs and 3 surgeries... Just for the Doctors to say "We don't know for certain why this is happening", "We think its from..." and "From where we stand we're worried"

Words that would terrify any parent.

At this stage, doctors are expecting at least another month in hospital to heal and become stable enough to resume his chemotherapy.

On diagnosis Vinnie’s mum, a community nurse, resigned and tradie dad has taken unpaid leave from work (has exhausted all paid time off since being admitted) to stay by his side during this critical and uncertain time.
