Little Mermaid "mala sirena"

Hi guys, my name is Edin Hodzic and i'm collecting donations on behalf of my father, Kemal Hodzic. My parents were born and raised in Zavidovici, Bosnia & Hercegovina. There is a small organization there that helps disabled children in need. The following is straight from their website, explaining their purpose

The association "Little Mermaid ( Mala sirena )" from Zavidovići is a local non-governmental organization established on 3rd May 2012. The main purpose of establishing the association is to include children with disabilities in the local community. The association was established by parents of children with disabilities as an attempt to satisfy the needs of children, but also to develop projects and programs that would result in adequate local community policies to provide social and educational opportunities for children with disabilities. The association gathers and provides support for 96 children and youth with disabilities and their family members. The professional staff engaged at the association (special educators, psychologists, social pedagogues, educators, assistants) organize various activities with children and youth with disabilities and their family members. A set of contemporary professional services organized by the association's professional staff are available to the association members. This kind of support is mostly inaccessible for this category of children even in large cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. All services for children are free of charge. The association provides professional services for families from the town of Zavidovici but also for the families from Sarajevo who moved to Zavidovići in order to provide professional help to their children as well as for families from the towns of Žepče, Maglaj and Tešanj. The association is the recipient of the Certificate of appreciation for the improvement of the quality of life in the local community, the Unicef award "Champion of Inclusion," and many Letters of appreciation, including the Letter of appreciation from the Pedagogical Institute of ZE-DO Canton. As a responsible and reliable partner, the association received many Letters of recommendation: Letter of Recommendations from USAID, UNICEF, the Federal Ministry of Health, the IN Foundation, the Cantonal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of ZE-DO Canton, and the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees.

All donations will go directly to Mala Sirena, the funds will be used to assist them in their construction of the additional floor to their building as they are rapidly growing with more kids continuously joining.

Udruženje “Mala Sirena” iz Zavidovića je lokalna nevladina organizacija formirana 03.05.2012. sa ciljem inkluzije djece sa poteškoćama u razvoju u lokalnu zajednicu. Udruženje su pokrenuli roditelji djece sa poteškoćama u razvoju u pokušaju da zadovolje potrebe djece, ali i da razviju projekte i programe koji bi rezultirali adekvatnim politikama lokalne zajednice na pružanju socijalnih i obrazovnih mogućnosti za djecu sa poteškoćama u razvoju. Udruženje trenutno okuplja i pruža podršku za 96 djece i mladih sa poteškoćama u razvoju i članove njihovih porodica. Pri udruženju su angažovani stručnjaci različitih profila ( defektolozi, psiholog, socijalni pedagog, odgajatelj, asistenti) koji realizuju aktivnosti sa korisnicima. Korisnicima je na raspolaganju kompletan set savremenih stručnih usluga koje su većinom nedostupne za ovu kategoriju djece čak i u velikim gradovima BiH. Sve usluge su besplatne za korisnike. Pored djece i porodica iz Zavidovića, usluge udruženja koriste i porodice iz Sarajeva koje su se preselile u Zavidoviće zbog naših usluga kao i porodice iz Žepča, Maglaja i Tešnja. Udruženje je dobitnik sljedećih priznanja: priznanje općinskog načelnika „Pohvala za unapređenje života u društvenoj zajednici“ i UNICEF-ovo priznanje „Šampion inkluzije“ kao i mnogobrojnih zahvalnica, između ostalog i zahvalnicu Pedagoškog zavoda ZE-DO kantona. Udruženje je kao odgovoran i pouzdan partner dobilo veliki broj pisama preporuke : Pismo preporuke USAID-a, UNICEF-a, Federalnog ministarstva zdravstva, IN Fondacije, Kantonalnog ministarstva rada i socijalne politike ZE-DO kantona i Ministarstva za ljudska prava i izbjeglice.
