My niece was shot July 18, 2020 and spent 18 days on life support before passing on August 5, 2020. Destiny is survived by her son Lorenzo who was only 15mo old at the time. Unfortunately, Destiny may never get the justice she deserves unless the cowards who shot their gun that night admit to it (there were at least 2 or 3 if not more). The DA will not press charges because, despite having numerous witnesses, no one will admit to shooting their gun and the police were never able to retrieve any of them so they can't run ballistics to determine who shot the fatal bullet. There is a $10k award for anyone who can provide details which lead to an arrest. It can even be reported anonymously through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers; please reference this news article .
I hope that, someday, those people grow a conscience and own up to what they did. They killed an innocent bystander who wanted nothing more than to provide a good life for her son. They left a baby to grow up without his mommy. They destroyed a family. Destiny's poor baby will never have his own memories of his mommy. I promised her I'd do everything in my power to ensure Lorenzo's well taken care of. She's his guardian angel now and I know that, between our family caring for him and her watching over him, he'll grow up to be a great man!
