We are all devastated with the fires that are currently happening! It is incredibly sad knowing what has been lost & the things you don’t hear about - it is just frightening, sad and you thank your lucky stars you’re not apart of it.
Izabella (7) & Harper (4) were watching the news with me this morning. They both started to ask me questions about the fires, where they were, how people can stop them etc
I started telling them how people have lost their homes, lives and how scary it all is having to leave everything and not knowing if your home was okay.
As this time a Koala was shown on tv and they asked why? I had told them how many animals died, and how most were injured - i then put it back on them and asked how can we help?
They were a little lost.
Izabella said we could pray for them and the people/animals that have lost their lives.
Harper said we could send them some toys & clothes that we don’t use/need anymore and to send them a bathtub with water (i had a little giggle at this).
It’s amazing how children can be so shy from these things that can occur at anytime. At this point we all sat down and started watching carefully, actually listening and trying to write down what we could do to help!
Izabella and I went through a few articles on her ipad and she choose two foundations that we think will help immensely with the outrageous fires that are occurring.
* The Rural Fire Service
* The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital
I am glad that my beautiful girls have such beautiful hearts and comments and they understand in a way what is happening is not okay and extremely sad.
Please help them feel like they have accomplished something so great!
