I love inspiring people to be their best creative selves, in any way I can.

Recently I built a very rough, homemade Little Free Library outside my home in the borough of Bromley. It sits across from a local park, on a walking route used by children heading to schools, families going to nearby shops, and dog walkers alike.

Why did I put my energy into this? I read that 1 in 10 children aged 5–18 say they do not have a book of their own at home, and honestly, my heart cracked a little in that moment. Creating this mini free library felt like a small but meaningful way to help. It’s also my way of supporting the Go All In campaign for 2026: The National Year of Reading, led by the National Literacy Trust.

So far, the community response has been wonderful. People love the free book exchange, and the children are especially delighted by the little extras, like free stickers tucked into the dolls’ house post box hidden inside.

A side quest of mine is bringing a little whimsy into the world… so up to now, I’ve been funding everything myself.

If you’re able to spare a donation, it will go towards small things like buying stickers from independent artists, and slightly bigger things like an outdoor chair for anyone who might like to sit and read for a while. I do intend to tame that part of the garden to make this a bit more desirable!

Donations will also help with maintenance and repairs. Recently some local teens tested limits and snapped the legs off , so I’ve bought replacements and will be repairing it soon. However my university woodworking module only got me so far, and I could definitely use a little expert help to stop the door swinging right off!

While I begin the repairs myself, I’ll also be seeking advice from a carpentry apprentice or local craftsperson so the library can be rebuilt stronger and continue serving the community.
