Who I am:
I’m Liam, a community minister in the parish of Christchurch with St. George’s in Eston and Normanby.
I was recently commissioned to develop a ministry that reaches beyond our regular congregation and serves people across our local area, sharing the hope and light of Christ in practical ways.
Purpose:
This fundraising campaign aims to support the creation of a community hub and garden called Little Eden, located in the meadow behind Christchurch, a beautiful Grade II listed building dating from the 19th century.
The Goal:
To create a welcoming place where people can take part in horticultural activities, and enjoy a space for social gatherings or celebrations. It will also offer support to those experiencing challenges such as food poverty, poor mental health, and social isolation, whilst helping people build a sense of community, build relationships, and find peace of mind.
The Vision:
To transform this simple meadow into a vibrant garden full of life, where the local community can grow, connect, and flourish together.
Values:
I am a Christian seeking to grow in faith and to become more like Christ in the way I live. The message of the gospel is central to my life, and I hope to reflect it through my service within the church and in how I treat others.
A passage from the Book of Isaiah, which Jesus reads at the beginning of His public ministry, has always stood out to me:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” — Isaiah 61:1
I understand this passage as a picture of the kind of life Christians are called to pursue after conversion: sharing the good news, caring for those who are suffering or overlooked, and seeking to live in a way that honours and glorifies the Father by following Christ’s example.
