Hello to everyone reading this page! We all hear many sad stories - where we want to help. Sometimes a story is extra-sad and involves people we know - and we feel that we MUST help. There are three beautiful children today who instantly lost their mother in a tragedy of senseless domestic violence, and they really need us. The details are available here: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/tishawn-folkes-taylor-mourned-by-nyc-classmates-who-remember-her-strength-after-being-abused/ar-AA1c7LXI
Seven-year-old Lisa, ten-year-old Jacob, and eighteen-year-old Kayla are now being raised by their grandparents, Oliver and Rosie Crooks. These good people are closely connected to the church that their daughter and grandchildren attended, and which was very helpful to the family: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Schenectady area. They are also a part of the Congregation Etz Hayim at Hollis Hills Bayside Jewish community. They will have unending costs and expenses today and for many years to come (including getting a bigger place to live). We who are their friends are fundraising for these grandparents, and they will be getting the money directly. We have formally named Oliver Crooks as the beneficiary.
Please consider helping this family. Your help – and the support of the many communities of which this family is a key part - will truly make all the difference.
Thank you on behalf of Lisa, Jacob, and Kayla!!
(This message is in coordination with Congregation Etz Hayim at Hollis Hills Bayside in Queens, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in the Schenectady area.)
