On January 14th, our lives were forever changed when we lost our son Lincoln Robert at 15 weeks pregnant. To lose a child, the life you planned, the memories you never got to make, is devastating. Losing our son too soon was life-altering.

But, we are so grateful for the support we received through the bereavement team and high-risk pregnancy ward. The people on these teams cried with us, cared for us, and helped us to honor and remember our precious boy. Leaving the hospital with a memory box instead of a baby is a pain we would never wish on anyone, but we are so grateful for the team of caring people who helped us to create those memories with our angel. The footprints and pictures will be mementos we cherish forever. Before we left the hospital, we were also given a stuffed animal and book to help explain our tragedy to our son Dylan at home. We were provided with books and resources for counseling and support groups. They helped us honor Lincoln through a memorial service they host for all the babies who left us too soon. We were so grateful to be supported in so many ways through this time.

Through an experience that can feel so isolating, we never felt as though we were going through it alone. That is why on June 8th, we will be racing to carry on Lincoln’s legacy, to honor the babies who are watching us from heaven, and support the bereavement team and support families through neonatal and pregnancy loss. We know that not everyone will be able to race with us, but we want to give the opportunity for you to help support families like ours. With your donation, we will be creating care packages to donate to bereaving families. We will also be donating to the high-risk maternity ward, because every baby deserves a fighting chance.
