At birth, my sweet cousin Lily Jolene Dischinger was born with Craniosynostosis, a big word to describe a part of her skull that fused prematurely.
After many Dr visits, it was determined she needed corrective surgery for proper development.
September 17 at Studers Children's Hospital in Pensacola, Lily recieved Cranial Vault Reconstruction for Right Coronal Craniosynostosis.
Shortly after she was found to have an infection from the surgery. Five weeks later, after multiple antibiotics, drains, tubes, and procedures to try to clear the infection, on October 22, Lily went to surgery again.
This time, as a result of the infection, Lily had to have all the hardware and bone in the front of her skull removed.
Lily remains in the hospital, waiting on her skin to heal and reducing the risk of infection before she can be released to home.
Lily's parents were told, the process of rebuilding Lily's forehead could take from one to five years.
I know that Lily, her parents Patrick and Torrye, and big brother Cristian have gone and will go through more than most can imagine. Thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers.
So many have asked how else they can help Lily and her family. I am hoping this page will give everyone an opportunity to love on this family.
The funds will go directly to the family to help the family with basic needs, food and travel costs to and from home, nearly a 3 hour drive.
Torrye has barely left Lily's room since Lily has been there. Patrick has been there every minute possible while trying to maintain a work schedule. Patrick brings Cristian over every weekend to visit his mommy and sister for precious time together.
Thank you for caring for this sweet family.
I will keep the site updated with news on Lily. Please check back and leave messages of love and support for them all.
