We've been accepted to join Surfing The Nations outreach program in Wahiawa, Hawaii this September-November, following our graduation this May. These past 4 years have been a crucial time that God used to reshuffle and revamp both of our lives in alike and also different ways. In which we could give more detail, but the common result has been our desire to share the love of God and provide service to others as we have been called; "Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
STN is a program with the philosophy to give. It struck our interest, the sense that it really fit with our shared passion in our faith, a thing that has been a huge constant in our lives. It feels natural that following high school we would seek growth, and benefit the most through this amazing character development program, immersed in a new culture, with a selfless community of people.
DONATION USE:
This 3-month internship is volunteer work and we will need your help to cover health insurance, living, program, and travel expenses.
Individually, our estimated expense is $4,250.
We've decided to come together in hopes to reach a greater number of people in short period of time. Our families are supporting us to extents but we would be grateful to receive any additional contribution and support.
STN is a non-profit organization that is supported entirely by volunteers and donations.
LIFE OF THE PROGRAM:
Given the opportunity, we will most likely be split, driven into making lots of new friendships ,living in a shared apartment with a generous number of new faces. Working a minimum of 40 hours a week, feeding the hungry, working in property/housing development and other community outreach projects. Depending on what is needed in the community of Wahiawa while we are there. We will also be spending a lot of our time self improving through biblically based teachings that will hopefully sculpt us to be better versions of ourselves and strengthen our relationship with God. In a way that we can carry into further choices we make in our lives after the experience.
Asking for your support was a bit out of either of our comfort zones but we felt motivated enough to deem this experience as worth it.
We will keep the site active until August 1st, 2020 and will continue to give updates on the progress of the donations.
If you have any questions please do contact either of us!
God Bless you and yours,
Thank you for your help,
Savanna Hill & Lily Fortenberry
