The Lilly Godard Human Rights Award aims to fight gender-based violence in the workplace.
It is a financial award of $1500 designed to support someone who has endured workplace gender-based violence or harassment. It also seeks to recognize those who advocate for the rights of workers to live with dignity and to be free from gender-based harassment.
The award was created by Maggie Godard through settlement funds she received from a sexual harassment wrongful dismissal law suit filed against her former employer. It honors the memory of Maggie's grandmother, Lilly, whose emotional support and encouragement gave her the strength to endure a lived-experience of workplace harassment and violence .
