Hi Friends and Dog Lovers:
I'm just going to say it like it is.
When you walk down a shelter's aisles of homeless dogs, it's very hard to view. As if sad, anxious faces are not enough, these despondent canines are often lying on the cement or a thin blanket with no chance of a comfy bed in site. Not to the fault of shelters-they are doing their best to help as many animals as possible-but the dogs need something more.....and a lift to their spirit.
I recently viewed a YouTube of a selfless young man who did something very special for the shelter dogs in his area. He bought beds for each kennel and each dog. Big beds, medium beds, small beds-he got them all. The YouTube shows how comforted the dogs were instantly with this addition to their individual kennel. Each one nested and thus, relaxed. It seemed that they knew someone cared. I truly feel during that specific moment in time, they felt the love of a stranger.
That's when I realized that I needed to put my silent advocacy into action. When I retire, my dream is to save dogs in need, and to create a safe, homey sanctuary for them while they are waiting for their forever home. Providing comfort and safety for them is at least something very special that we, together, can achieve.
I cannot do this on my own. I need the help of friends and thoughtful strangers in order to accomplish my goal. I have donated to many charities, but I have never asked for money before for a cause. It's time that I put my words into action.
If you can please help buy one or more beds for my local shelter dogs, I, and they, would forever be thankful. No amount is too small.
Thank you so much for considering.
Warmly,
Denee
