My name is Alan Starkie. Through LifeBeats (well-being through music), I provide music and sign language sessions to people with learning disabilities.
I facilitate sessions and classes all over the Northwest of England to various Care In the Community (CICs) and charities promoting positivity, fun, confidence and self-belief to all my members and friends.
LifeBeats sessions involve multicoloured drums, rainbow percussion and BSL intertwined with music, dancing, rhythm and fun!
Everyone leaves with a smile and batteries boosted!
I'm raising funds for the equipment LifeBeats uses as it takes a beating (literally) and is in need of constant maintenance and upgrades.
My current stock is drums (multicoloured individually), percussion (lots of rainbow tambourines), drumsticks (again multicoloured to aid in visual stimulation), sound equipment (we like to make a racket!) and all the accessories and miscellany I need to make my sessions totally unique.
I went back to college for 3 years learning British Sign Language and wanted to apply it in my musical career to make a positive difference in the SEND and deaf/Deaf community.
LifeBeats proceeded to engulf my working life and is now my full-time job.
All proceeds from GoFundMe will go to buying much-needed new equipment and enabling me to continue working with the wonderful people I meet.
Your donations:
£30 buys a drum
£10 buys a tambourine
£10 buys the colourisation of a drum and sticks
£100 buys PA equipment
£30 buys packs of drumsticks
£10 buys a drum strap
I take nothing from donations for myself. Everything goes towards someone with life challenges.
Thanks for getting this far.
Alan.
