Life Through Cancer: Help Jonny Monson

On June 5, Jonny Monson, a 21-year-old healthy man from Byron, MN, was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin Lymphoma. The odds of a 21-year-old healthy male ending up with this diagnosis are 1 in 400,000. You have slightly better odds of being struck by lightning. This took Jonny and his entire family to their knees. He had been struggling with an unknown illness for about four months prior. On May 28, a CAT scan indicated he needed to see an oncologist. The diagnosis on June 5 was a complete and total shock. He had just proposed in March to his fiancée to get married in November 2025. He’s a former college baseball player and a very passionate music producer. On the date he was diagnosed, he was also supposed to start his college internship and employment. He had three months under his cooperative insurance plan, which would not cover any of his health issues until March of 2026. As a result, thankfully for the first month, Mayo Clinic offered to pay all of his medical bills. That totaled nearly $100,000. That was a miracle. Unfortunately, he is saddled with about $75,000 of school debt. He was not able to work and is not able to work through his treatment, which ends around December 2025. His fiancée just graduated from college and had started her career job one week before his diagnosis. Incredibly, she ended her job to move to Jonny’s parents' home and be there for him throughout the treatment process. It was an unbelievably selfless act of support that Jonny needed to keep him emotionally capable of moving through a tough treatment process. Therefore, both are saddled with a lot of student debt and no income through this period of time. Jonny will be dealing with consistent scans over the next five years at a very high expense. Thankfully, he was able to gain access to Medicaid assistance through the process, which has helped to reduce his current medical bills. When Jonny is able to work, he will be paying the premium, deductible, and co-pays that go with having cancer. And they will try to catch up in making money from the lack of work while attempting to pay off significant private college debt.

I’m reaching out for your support to help them find a way through this very unexpected health and financial challenge.

They are both strong Christians with strong faith, and they know somehow, someway they will make it through, and they have not changed their plans to get married this November 2025.

If you are willing, please feel free to provide any financial support that you can through GoFundMe. Thank you, and God bless.
