Life Preserver for Pop's SeaBar

UPDATE 12-7-20:
Hello again friends!
What a year. We want to thank you for all your support that has helped us get this far!
This year we have been tailoring our menu and specials to better suit take out and we were eventually able to offer scaled down indoor and outdoor dining. We sure miss the good old days of our busy and cheerful neighborhood bar and would desperately like to get back there!
With the truly difficult winter arriving, our already depleted sales are continuing to fall and our future is uncertain. With the vaccine incoming there is light at the end of the tunnel... We just need to eek our way forward a little bit longer to survive.
We are so incredibly proud we have weathered this year as a small business. Our dream is huge... to be one of the survivors!
With another shutdown looming and weather getting cold, any additional help in donations and business are vital to Pop's SeaBar right now. Please pass along and a very very safe winter.
Thank you to all.
Love, Pop's

UPDATE 4-17-20:
Keeping chins up!
We have filed all necessary paperwork to apply for the PPP and have been told we are "in line" to be considered. As you may have heard from the news, this process is not going to be guaranteed or swift. The new scaled-down take-away business model we are operating under is not sustainable for the business or it's employees but preserves a small revenue source.
We are proud to be working, along side a generous patron, to provide meals for our neighborhood firehouses!
Please follow us on social media for updates.
We continue to be blessed with support from our customers and fans. THANK YOU. Stay safe.

2020 takes a bizarre turn!

After almost six years at Pop's, our amazing neighborhood has completely embraced our successful and well reviewed small business . Our bar and restaurant has been integrated into the lives of the colorful block we love in Adams Morgan. We, like many small businesses, are gutted to have to stop our normal operations, but are proud to combat the COVID-19 crisis in Washington, DC. We have received incredible support, and could not be more grateful to all our friends and neighbors who have offered help and relief to us, to our families and to our business.

Our Staff: Ray, Megan, Pete, Dustin, Bob, Tio, Francisco, Gabriel, Olivia and Chef have absolutely no idea what to do with themselves now and can't wait to get back to work!... Cracking Beers, Crushing Crushes, Shucking Oysters, Frying Boardwalk Chicken and Old Bay Fries, Grilling your favorite Patties, and Deviling your Blue Catfish!

This campaign can help sustain our now unemployed and underemployed staff and families, and also provide some support for our colleagues, Dave Barber (owner/operator of DAAB Amusements) who provides and maintains our pinball games, and ADMO community fixture Kevin who washes our windows and mirrors. These folks are hurting along with the rest of us, and we want to make sure they're taken care of!

The near and distant future is uncertain.
We are surprised to find ourselves here in 2020 fundraising for our bar's future but Pop's Sea Bar would like to thank you and get our little neighborhood bar back on track as soon as we can. We miss you all and cannot wait to get back to normal in our little boardwalk bar.

Thank you for all the support you've already given, and for considering giving more. We would be nothing without you!

Our priorities for the funds we raise are to

1. Make sure our hourly and tipped staff get paid for hours and tips lost due to the shutdown of on premise dining.

2. Make sure that everyone on staff has safe access to nutritious foods and drinks, and essential household products, by using our wholesale resources.

3. Make sure friends of Pop's Dave and Kevin are maintaining a steady stream of income when they otherwise could be out completely.

4. Pay essential bills to keep the doors open doing takeout as long as we are allowed to.

5. Make sure our salaried employees are making enough to cover their essential expenses.

We thank you again for taking the time to read this, and for all the great memories past, and those to come!
