Wallace Marine Park and Keizer Rapids Park at one point in time had life jacket loaner stations. Unfortunately both stations have been removed. My husband and I started this project after hearing about a child who had drown while playing with his family. Tragedies like this are so easily prevented, especially when there is convenient access to life saving equipment. Currently we are working with the City of Salem to get a station set up near the pedestrian bridge so we can provide this life saving equipment. This endeavor is not cheap, life jackets are approximately $20 each and when I initially purchased the first 13, I only knew that one station was removed, not both. This money will go towards the purchase of life jackets, materials for the station and 2 signs, one for Wallace Marine Park and the other Keizer Rapids Park (which already had a station, no sign or jacket). Any additional money will go towards extra life jackets to replace the one that are stolen throughout the year. Thank you.
