Every year I like to raise awareness and money for good causes close to my heart.. this year is a little different.
To remind people, I found losing my dog, Trixie, very hard and it’s helped me taking on more responsibility for our family dog Milo.
We rescued Milo from North Macedonia during lockdown. Milo was found on the street in a box with his siblings; we took one look at the photo of him and fell in love. He is a happy, sensitive little chap, however he was born with a genetic abnormality showing itself as an under developed front right leg with a twisted foot.
Since having Milo, we have monitored the leg and ensured he is not in pain and is able to run around and have fun. It has never been a serious problem, up until recent months.. Milo developed sores and splits on his foot, causing him immense pain and discomfort and rarely uses the foot any longer to weight bear.
After appointments with specialists and many discussions around the right course of action, we have been advised that the best thing for Milo is to have the leg amputated. The vet is confident Milo will thrive without it and be free of the pain he currently lives with.
As you can imagine, it has not been a quick or easy decision, however we just want what is best for Milo.
The surgery and aftercare come at a great cost, which will not be covered by insurance as it was a pre-existing condition. The total cost is around £2000.
I will be taking on a 50 mile walk, over a few days at the end of August to raise money for Milo.. AND, my amazing Dad will be keeping me company in my Grandma’s old Scooter! For him to be by my side in the scooter, keeping me going, is something I never imagined would happen and I am very thankful.
If anyone feels that they are able to donate, we would be so grateful. This will be absolutely life changing for Milo. Thank you for taking the time to read this ❤️
