2020 brought a double pandemic to Southeast Queens: our communities were at the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic and saw a 333% increase in gun violence.
At LIFE Camp (Love Ignites Freedom Through Education), our mission is to prevent violence before it happens.
Based in Jamaica, Queens and founded by internationally recognized and widely-respected peacemaker, Erica Ford, we develop young leaders and provide youth and families with positive alternatives to violence.
And that’s why, with the help of the Gun Safety Alliance and GoFundMe, we are continuing to take action to stop gun violence through the creation of a Premorial Fund.
By donating, you’re supporting preventative programs like the ones we currently offer to young people and their families. These programs provide youth with educational, employment and social opportunities they might not otherwise have. Through our model VIP (violence intervention & prevention) system, youth mentorship programs, and award-winning initiatives, we approach violence as a public health crisis, therefore healing & transforming entire communities.
Funds raised from this campaign will directly power our front-line public health workers stopping violence before it happens. It will ensure our communities are met with critical therapeutic and wellness services to help us heal the traumas that lead to violence.
