Who I Am
Hello friends, family, and kind strangers — I'm Jes. Many of you reading this already know me, but you may not know my full story and why I've reached this point of needing help. Whether you can donate, share this post, or simply send a kind word my way, please know how deeply grateful I am.

Why I'm Asking for Help
In November 2023, my life changed drastically when I was held against my will overnight, sexually harassed, and assaulted. The aftermath left me with not only emotional scars and ongoing trauma recovery but also significant legal expenses.

As I was working through this difficult period, another blow came in January 2024: my nonprofit employer announced budget cuts affecting 30% of staff. By March, I found myself unemployed despite over 10 years of experience as a Communications Strategist and Project Manager.

For the past year, I've been actively searching for stable employment—submitting hundreds of applications both online and in person, but the job market is beyond brutal right now. I've sustained myself through unemployment benefits, personal savings, freelance projects, and the incredible generosity of my family. These resources, combined with my determination, kept me going until March 2025.

Unfortunately, unexpected car repairs and my mother's hospitalization last year have completely depleted my financial safety net. On the 1st of the month, I will officially be two months behind on both rent and car insurance payments (April & May), putting both my housing and transportation at risk.

The Silver Lining
The good news is that after months of searching, I've recently secured two part-time positions that will allow me to begin rebuilding financial stability. I am committed to regaining my independence and will be working approximately 30 hours over the course of 6-7 days a week between both jobs.

However, I need a bridge to get there. I'm asking for $2,500 to cover my overdue rent and car insurance—essentials that I cannot afford to lose as I work to get back on my feet. Any funds raised beyond this goal will help address the legal fees from the assault.

How You Can Help
  • Financial support or a loan of any amount toward the $2,500 goal
  • Sharing this campaign with your networks
  • Job leads for remote work or positions in Central Pennsylvania
  • Words of encouragement during this challenging time

I'm still actively seeking additional work opportunities, so if you know of any positions that might fit my background in communications and project management, I'd be grateful for the lead and am happy to share my resume.

Thank You
I believe deeply in the power of community and paying it forward. Once I'm back on stable ground, I commit to helping others who face similar unexpected hardships. To everyone who can help or has already supported me throughout this journey—whether through kind words, a listening ear, or practical assistance—you've been my lifeline.

If you can't make a monetary donation but can share this post, that support means the world to me too.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU! ❤️
