Life After Stroke: Support a Hardworking Mom of 2
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Keith, and I'm raising money to support my sister, La'Shawna, and our Mom, Deborah.
Our Mom had a devastating ischemic stroke in July 2024. While my Mom has gotten a lot better since then and has regained all of her cognitive abilities, she has had to remain at a facility due to paralysis the right side of her body. She has not been able to walk, stand on her own, or conduct activities of daily living (ADL), such as showering, dressing herself or even using the bathroom. Her recovery has been slow.
My sister has been at my Mom's side since the stroke first happened -- and has never left. She's been at every hospital and facility ensuring that she gets proper care, helping her directly with physical therapy, cleaning her every night and also ensuring that she safely gets into bed. She's been the angel throughout all of this, making sure my Mom hasn't gone through this struggle alone.
My sister has two jobs and is a single mother to two teenage boys, my incredible nephews. She's only 39 years old, but has had to take on the additional burden of being an unexpected caretaker for my Mom while she continues to recover.
I live abroad and have been limited in what I can do to support, both being back in our hometown and also financially.
I thought about what I could do for her for Mother's Day and my dream is to be able to buy her a house. But because it's so far-fetched, I wanted to do something to support her financially, although its out of reach for me. I want to help her pay off all of her stacking bills, support her and her kids, pay off her car and possibly have a down payment to buy a house.
Zero of any money raised will go to me -- only to my sister and my Mom. I can't think of anyone (besides our Mom) more hardworking, humble and truly self-effacing. It would mean the world to our family if she got the support she needed.
Thank you for your support and anything that you can give.
