Hello there!
My name is Yoselyn Campos, I am a nurse and I am joining my fellow coworker Gina Atilano, who is also a nurse, on a medical mission to Liberia in Africa along with some of her church members.
Our goal is to provide medical services to Liberians living in the villages around the Capital city of Monrovia and share the Gospel of Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Liberia is a country in West Africa founded in the 1800s by free people of color from the United States. It is considered one of the poorest countries in Africa. The 14 years of civil war have led the country to devastation. 54% of Liberia's population lives under the poverty line. The outbreak of Eboli in 2014 caused schools to close, and children could not complete their education. The crisis of water contamination and proper sanitation contributes to the spread of infectious diseases. There is a lack of well-equipped hospitals and health facilities in rural areas, and consequently, many people die from preventable and curable diseases.
While our volunteers are responsible for travel expenses, we urgently need to acquire medical supplies and medications to provide efficient healthcare services.
Peace and kindness, Yoselyn and Gina.
