As many of you know, our precious Liam is truly a miracle in every sense of the word. Liam was born on July 24, 2010 at 24 weeks gestation weighing exactly 1 lb. We are truly fortunate that he has done so well. 

Liam was diagnosed with a condition called hypospadia as an infant. Liam had surgery as baby, however, they were unable to fix the hypospadia due to his size. We recently consulted with a pediatric urologist who reccommended that Liam have surgery as soon as possible. The surgeon advised that this surgery is more successful when done as a child as opposed to a teenager or adult.  Not fixing a hypospadia can lead to problems with his "manhood" in the future, and have life long consequences.  I'm sure others can relate to not having great insurance coverage. For Liam to have his surgery, we have to come up with $5,000 out of pocket. We simply don't have that kind of money, and have fallen on hard times financially as of late.

Secondly, although Liam has done well developmentally, he has struggled with his speech when it comes to articulation and tone. Liam does get some speech therapy at school, but because his speech issues aren't deemed severe, the help he receives is shockingly minimal. In addition to fixing his hypospadia, we know Liam would benefit tremendously from private speech therapy. Private speech therapy unfortunately does not come without a hefty price tag.

Starting this campaign and asking for funds from anybody is extremely difficult for us. We wouldn't even dream of asking if it wasn't for the need of our child. 100% of funds raised would go towards Liam's surgery and a private speech therapist.  If you can't donate, we would be truly grateful for folks to pass the word along by sharing the link to our site.
