LHBlacks - Tour of Texas Outreach Event
Hello! My name is Judson Hayden and I am a founding member and President of LHBlacks. Our organization's purpose is to create a community of and for Black LHB members. Additionally, we serve to make LHB the model for diversity in collegiate systems and are actively working to create a more equitable Longhorn Band.
This past year has been extremely tough for all of us. The pandemic and university controversy stripped Longhorn Band members of our home and challenged us like never before. However, we are resilient and want to use this as an opportunity to better this organization that we hold so dearly.
Historically, the demographics of the Longhorn Band have hardly represented that of the University of Texas, let alone the state. To remedy this, LHBlacks will be holding our first annual "Tour of Texas Outreach Event." From June 10th-15th we will be traveling 1700 miles across Texas to meet Black, prospective LHB members to give them a glimpse of the Longhorn Band's incredible community and spread the word of the opportunities this organization has to offer.
Your donation will help support us in making LHB a better community for all of Its members. It will go toward travel, housing, food, and activities we have planned for each of the students we will be meeting.
