LGSMigrants - UK Black Pride Fundraiser

Hi queer combabes. It’s pride season and we’re celebrating again this year by supporting our friends from African Rainbow Family and Bristol Pride Without Borders to get down to London for UK Black Pride on Saturday 19th August.

Here's some more background on these legends:

African Rainbow Family (ARF) is a registered grassroots charity that supports LGBTQIA+ people of African heritage and the wider Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic groups. They provide support for LGBTQIA+ refugees and people seeking asylum while campaigning for global LGBTQIA+ equality in opposition to anti-gay laws on the African continent. African Rainbow Family members are spread across the UK.

Bristol Pride Without Borders is a support group for Bristol-based LGBTQIA+ people seeking asylum and those with refugee status. Their team offers regular 1:1 support and advice, making sure people are housed, safe, and have good legal advice, while also supporting their members through the UK’s asylum system.

UK Black Pride is ​​Europe’s largest celebration for African, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latin American and Caribbean-heritage LGBTQIA+ people. It serves as an essential alternative to whitewashed Pride events that routinely dismiss even the most basic of safety concerns for QTIPOC communities (see: our recent action protesting Pride in London’s decision to allow the inclusion of groups such as the racist Metropolitan Police, and United Airlines, which has carried out deportation flights).

We believe there can be no pride without migrants, so we’re raising funds to support LGBTQIA+ groups outside of London to attend UK Black Pride. At the end of this fundraiser, all donations will be transferred to these groups to cover the costs of:

Food and refreshments
