LGS COVID-19 Recovery for Glory House

Glory House is a unique emergency housing program in Hempstead, NY for women and men who are struggling to recover from addiction. Glory House is a team of human service professionals in the field of substance abuse uniquely qualified to understand the effects of drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, mental illness, and poverty as it relates to homelessness among men and women.

Adelphi University's Levermore Global Scholars Program is an academic honors program aimed to foster global awareness & civic engagement.  The LGS Student Leadership Council created a Food Recovery Initiative a few years ago to recover food on campus that would otherwise be thrown away. We brought this food to local organizations, such as Glory House, while keeping track of it to see how much money’s worth of food we recovered. Due to complications of COVID-19 and lack of excess food on campus, the LGS program still wants to sustain connections with local organizations and provide aid in whatever ways possible.

All money raised will go directly to purchase and donate PPE, COVID-19 precautionary supplies, and other items that Glory House has expressed need for.  We thank you for your support during these difficult times!
