We need your help building a handicap accessible home for Annie:
Building a Foundation for Independence
The Story of Annie:
Annie is a vibrant, joyful 7-year-old with a laugh that fills a room and a deep, unwavering love for the color green. She also lives with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (Type 3-Severe), a condition that makes her bones as fragile as glass. Because of this, Annie has never been able to walk and relies on a wheelchair to navigate her world.
But right now, Annie’s world is missing something very important: a space built just for her.
The Vision:
More Than Just Four Walls
Currently, Annie and her mom share a single bedroom in her great-grandmother’s house. While we are all grateful for a roof over their heads, the home’s layout simply cannot accommodate Annie's physical needs. The hallways are too narrow for her wheelchair, and they share a tiny bathroom that is nearly impossible to navigate with medical equipment.
Because of these barriers, Annie is often unable to even use her chair inside the home. She has the tools for independence, but she doesn't have the space to use them. Our dream is to build her a home where she can be the "player one" in her own life—complete with a bedroom that serves as her ultimate green gaming oasis.
Visualizing Annie's Space:
We want Annie to have a room where she can explore virtual worlds and her own independence at the same time:
The Gaming Zone:
An adjustable-height desk for her console and monitor, allowing her to roll right up and play without barriers.
A World of Green:
Annie’s favorite color! A custom green color scheme where she can feel completely at home.
True Independence:
An accessible layout with an ultra-wide doorway and smooth flooring so she can move from her bed to her gaming setup entirely on her own.
Phase One:
We’ve Taken the First Step
We are fully committed to making this dream a reality, and we aren't starting from scratch. Just yesterday, my husband and I officially purchased the lot directly next door to our home. This is the foundation of our mission.
By building right next door, I will be just steps away to assist with Annie’s transfers and provide the daily support she and her mom need. We have put our hearts and our savings into securing this land; now, we are asking for our community’s help to build the home Annie deserves.
Our Goal:
The Budget Breakdown
We have set a goal of $300,000 to ensure Annie has everything she needs to thrive safely. Here is how those funds will be used:
$250,000 | The Forever Home: Construction of a fully handicapped-accessible home, including zero-entry thresholds, wide hallways, a spacious roll-in bathroom, and Annie’s custom gaming suite.
$50,000 | A Disability-Accessible Van: A reliable, specialized vehicle with a wheelchair ramp, finally allowing Annie to travel safely and see the world beyond her front door.
How You Can Help:
We know this is a mountain to climb, but we believe in the power of "the village."
Any amount helps: We truly mean that. If every person who reads this donated just $1, it would be one more brick in Annie’s house or one mile closer in her new van.
Share Annie’s Story:
If you aren’t in a position to give, please consider sharing this link. Every share helps us reach someone who wants to help Annie reach her milestone of having her very own room.
Thank you for being the foundation of Annie’s future and for helping us open the door to her new life.
