Donate to Secure Safe Housing for a Courageous Individual

I'm in a potentially homeless situation right now because of my mental health, because I've gone through so much being in the system.

I was homeless until the age of 6, then I was in foster care and then adopted. My adopted family was abusive, so I had to go no contact. At this point, I only have friends, no family.

I'm honestly pretty scared of homelessness and history repeating itself. I'm a really wonderful person, but what if I fall into the cracks of the system? I'm scared of that. It happens all the time.

Thankfully, I'm currently crashing with friends, but January, I don't know where I'll be.

I'm looking into housing options, but I'm not keen on paying more than ~$500/mo for rent and utilities. I need to take 6mo-1yr before I can function normally again. I need to find support for my mental health problems and manage my borderline, adhd, potential autism before I feel ready to go into having that many responsibilities again.

I have enough saved for living costs in December and some of January, but I'm worried that if I use all the money I have to move (deposit + first month's), that I'll be left with no money in my account. So I'm asking my community for support, in any way it comes. Any amount helps!

Thank you for your donation, and I hope you have a great day ❤

More on homelessness, especially in relation to foster care:

"My view of homeless people changed forever when I learned that more than half of them were foster kids who aged out of the system and were left with no family or resources."

"If you ever had a 'move back with your parents stage,' [homelessness is the same thing. The only difference between you and a homeless person] is you were privileged enough to have a fallback."

PDF Aging Out of Foster Care - This PDF includes helpful resources on how to be supportive, not just through money. I have yet to sit down and do a thorough read to help myself, but it seems like great stuff. One of my obstacles with health is not being able to read large amounts of text online or on a screen, because of eye strain and brain fog. That is adding a level of challenge in finding, organizing, and seeking resources. I've found that conversing one-on-one and speech-to-text on Mac, have been good solutions for now.

If you're a woman looking for a roommate or have any resources or leads, please let me know :) I'm ideally looking for a room in the suburbs or in nature, something peaceful, month-to-month or up to 6 months lease, in the LA area but not in the city.
