Urgent Appeal to support people suffering with Loneliness
Our Mission
Hi, my name is Michael Helps, and I’m reaching out for your support to help keep Loneliness UK running.
Loneliness UK was created to offer comfort, companionship, and a listening ear to anyone struggling with loneliness. Through letters and online conversations, we provide a safe space for people to share their thoughts and feel less alone because no one should have to face loneliness in silence.
Why Loneliness UK Needs Your Help
Running Loneliness UK comes with ongoing costs such as:
• Maintaining a postal address for correspondence
• Creating and distributing awareness materials (banners, posters, etc.)
• Covering essential online and advertising expenses
Up until now, I’ve personally funded these costs, but with the rising cost of living, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to sustain. Without your support, we may face the heartbreaking possibility of having to close Loneliness UK.
Your contribution whether it big or small, will go directly toward keeping this project alive and helping those who need it most.

Our Story
Loneliness UK’s journey started one day when I took my mum to an appointment at the hospital. We were sat in a waiting room, when my mum spotted an elderly lady sitting by herself, this made my mum emotional as she spoke to me and said no body should ever have to feel alone. This got us reflecting on how much a problem loneliness actually is because we were so lucky that we could go with my mum to appointments but some people didn’t have that. We then began reflecting on how we could try and support people that suffer with loneliness.
We then originally came up with Old And Proud, because my mum had always told me how much she hated the phrase Old Aged Pensioner so that is how we came up the the original name. We knew how even a small human connection could make somebodies day so we decided that we would come up with a campaign that allows people struggling with loneliness to write to us whether it be about their problems or even just to tell us about there day because some people don’t have people they can tell things to. Over time we realised that the name Old and Proud wasn’t actually showing our full goal because we wanted to help anybody no matter their age against their battle with loneliness. That is why we came up with the name Loneliness UK.
Loneliness is such a dangerous thing, it can lead to mental health problems such as depression and also can affect people’s physical health.
