Lets take some worry, and stress of Baby Al's mother

Alaric was born at 35 weeks after issues with the cord not providing him with enough nutrients and oxygen, causing him to be on the 3rd centile.

When he was born he was stuck so needed forceps to deliver him, he was not breathing and his heart rate was dangerously low. Shortly after birth he started having apneas, which meant he needed to be intubated to let his tiny body recover, and was transferred to Glan Clwyd NICU. After 3 days he was put onto CPAP (high flow oxygen) and then slowly weaned off. During this time and for 5 weeks after he kept having recurring apneas in which his oxygen levels and heart rate would drop very low and he would stop breathing for over 20 seconds.

He had multiple tests, xrays, ecgs, eegs, cranial ultrasounds and MRI. He had blood test after blood tests and while no definitive answer came from them, we found he had lesions and cysts on his brain giving us a diagnosis of PVL (Periventricular Leukomalacia)

After 60 days in the neo natal unit, they allowed us home on oxygen and feeding tube as he had not had an apnea for 3 weeks, but within 4 days he was back with breathing issues. They monitored and sent us home. 2 weeks or so after that he was readmitted with breathing difficulties and they did another chest xray which showed hazy parts and infection markers up so had a chest infection.

We then went home after 4 days. A week later he went in again with potential dehydration but they said he seemed fine so home we went again.

Monday 21st July was the start of the worst week, he seemed to get more lethargic as the days went on, not waking for feeds, watery eyes, drooling, but seemed ok in himself.
Thursday evening he was starting to have bradys and desats again and was really working hard to breathe so he was blue lighted back to Glan Clwyd again. Whilst being monitored he continued to have these episodes until 5:30 am he went into sudden cardiac arrest, and while being resuscitated he aspirated into his lungs. Luckily the nurses recovered him and intubated him but they said he needed to be rushed to Alder Hey as they would have more specialist care for him, the transport team came to take him but took 6 hours just to stabilise him to go.

Since he's been in Alder Hey they've managed to clear his Airways but is still on a ventilator and they think he's had 2 seizures so is on medication for that as well now.

Next week will begin more MRI's, eegs, scans, neurologists and geneticist to try and find out exactly what is going on and try to prevent more in the future.

The fight is ongoing, Mum has had to deal with the unthinkable and unbarable, she has been unable to work with all going on (she has always worked and more than most) she as anyone else doesnt deserve to have the extra worry of how are bills/mortgage ect going to be paid, we will keep you all updated on Baby Al, as and when we know, any donation big or little will all help more than you could imagine, thank you and most importantly Pray for our Beautiful Baby Alaric
