Below is the momma speaking on her situation and I can only imagine what they've gone through. God is good though! As a family friend, im reaching out to everyone who loves them just like I do, to help take some worry and stress off of them while they go through this process. They dont know I have done this, but we are called to help one another. Lets do what we can to help ♡
It takes a village, right?
Please pray for our newborn baby son, Everette. After being discharged, we got home and settled and 7 hours later, we were in the ER thinking he was having seizures. Without any tests or comfort, we were sent home an hour later. We got through the night, and by 10am the next morning, 7/18, our baby had stopped breathing multiple times within minutes before paramedics quickly arrived.
PRMC has since ran every single test and the results are slowly coming back with things we can eliminate. As of 7/20 in the morning, Everette was critical, fighting just to keep his body alive. He wasn’t opening his eyes, moving his arms or hands voluntarily, or responding to any stimulation. By a MIRACLE, ALL within two hours of hearing the doctor say, “no changes, we’ll keep listening to his body cues and go from there” our baby opened his eyes!!! We were so thrilled to be able to see LIFE in his body!!! Moments later, he starting coughing and grabbing at his ventilator. The doctor said to listen to his cues, so the doctor removed his ventilator and downgraded to a baby CPAP. Again, listening to Everette’s cues, he kept tugging at his CPAP. So the doctor removed it. For the first time in what felt like months (3days), OUR BABY WAS BREATHING ON HIS OWN!!! Almost 24 hours later, now current time, Everette is having somewhat normal baby wake/sleep patterns and is alert to the extent that the sedative side effect will allow him to be.
Our baby is 6 days old and has been in the NICU for 4 days. While this has felt like an eternity already, we find comfort in knowing that our baby is STRONG and is giving the doctors and nurses the biggest surprises each day. Yesterday, we heard our nurse tell both the doctor and another nurse, that she “has no words for what is happening in this room and how quickly he’s progressing”.
While there is still no end in sight and no definitive answers as to what caused Everette to stop breathing on Friday, we know that God is responsible for this real life miracle. He performed such a huge miracle on such a tiny little human. We know God has big plans for Everette and we hold onto that hope as we search for answers to help our son.
As we share the best and worst week of our life so far, we ask that you respect our time with our sweet baby boy and understand we may not respond to messages and calls but we appreciate all of the love and prayers you can send Everette’s way. We know Everette already has the biggest support system and we wanted to extend that to our friends and family to give Everette more love and more prayers.
Hayley has venmo as well! H_Patterson
UPDATE FROM MOMMA♡
Update: A few results came back to help eliminate what could possibly be causing his body to be in crisis. Everette (as of 7/23) does not have a blood infection or spinal infection so those are two more things to eliminate. Still struggling to manage his own blood pressure. But we have had so many cries and winces and whines today, it’s so comforting. he’s much more reactive to touch again today too, hopefully more tomorrow as more of the phenobarbital seizure meds wear off. I did get to change his diaper for the first time ever today!!! (Since Dakota so kindly changed every single one since he’s been born and before NICU). We are still celebrating the small accomplishments, as his body tries to show us what he needs. We still have no end in sight as to how long we’ll be here, and no idea what’s causing the symptoms yet. Keep the prayers coming for both our family & our medical team.
