La Palestina, terra antica, ricca di storia e cultura, è da decenni martoriata da dolorose contese politiche e religiose. La mancanza di libertà, di scambio e di autonomia ha causato una crisi sociale ed economica che investe in maniera drammatica le fasce più vulnerabili della popolazione. Come EducAid da oltre 20 anni operiamo in Cisgiordania e nella Striscia di Gaza proprio per promuovere i diritti e l’inclusione sociale delle persone con disabilità. Nei Territori Palestinesi, infatti, le persone con disabilità, ed in particolare le donne, vivono una condizione fortemente stigmatizzata e le sfide quotidiane che si trovano ad affrontare sono innumerevoli.

Da sempre, i nostri interventi mirano al superamento di un approccio assistenzialista a favore di azioni che permettano alle persone con disabilità di essere protagoniste delle loro scelte e di partecipare pienamente alla vita comunitaria. Con il progetto Let’s Start Up, finanziato da AICS - Agenzia italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo, abbiamo affiancato 16 donne con disabilità e madri di bambini con disabilità in un percorso di emancipazione personale e di formazione professionale che consentisse loro di riscattare la dignità attraverso la valorizzazione delle proprie inclinazioni e il lavoro.

Palestine, an ancient land, rich in history and culture, has been tormented by painful political and religious disputes for decades. The lack of freedom, exchange and autonomy has caused a social and economic crisis that dramatically affects the most vulnerable sections of the population. As EducAid we have been operating in the West Bank and Gaza Strip for over 20 years to promote the rights and social inclusion of people with disabilities. In the Palestinian Territories, in fact, people with disabilities, and in particular women, live a stigmata condition and the challenges they face are unconditional.
 
Our projects have always aimed at overcoming a welfare approach in favor of actions that allow people with disabilities to be the protagonists of their choices and fully entitled to community life. With Let's Start Up we have supported 16 women with disabilities and mothers of children with disabilities in a path of personal emancipation and professional training that would allow them to redeem their dignity through the enhancement of their inclinations and work.

The pandemic and the escalation of violence caused by the recent clashes threat these micro-enterprises, founded with enormous dedication by women already challenged by life.
