Let's send Deb and her grandkids to Storyland!

Hi, my name is Cathy H-B and I am organizing this fundraiser as a retirement gift from all of us at Orangetheory Hanover and Kingston for our beloved OTF coach Deb Forbes. As you know, Deb is retiring from Orangetheory at the end of January 2024. A few of us were talking after a recent 10:00 a.m. Saturday class, and we were discussing how Deb is the glue that held Orangetheory together for all of us - motivating us to come back again and again and again, and especially through the pandemic - for 4 years in Hanover and 2 in Kingston before that. She is going to be missed greatly, but we are REALLY excited that she gets to spend more time with her three grandchildren.

In an effort to support her quest to spend more time with her family, we debated a few ideas and settled on a family trip to Story Land in NH. Some of her family is in Maine and some down here, so NH seemed like a good meeting place, plus her grandkids are the perfect age for it. Tickets are $49.99 per person, Deb has 3 children and 3 grandkids, plus spouses, so we are estimating the need for about 10 tickets (the youngest grandkids will be free) or $500 to get in. Plus, you can't go to Story Land without some spending money for food and souvenirs for the grandkids, so that's the additional $200. We met this initial goal on 1/22/24!

Additional funds raised over the $700 initial goal will help them to pay for hotel rooms or an Air B&B overnight since they will be traveling from a distance. Hotel rooms generally run about $200-250 a night that time of the year and they would likely prefer 4 rooms, so there is plenty of wiggle room over and above the initial $700 goal. We've increased the goal to $1700 as of 1/24/24.

As of 1/26/24, we’ve reached our already extended goal of $1700. Holy mackerel! Now that we’ve checked off the tickets, lunch snacks, souvenirs and overnight accommodation boxes, let’s add dinner out! Let’s shoot for another $500? $50 pp x 10 people?

More than 35 of us chipped in a suggested donation of $20 each, that got us to our initial goal of $700. Our love for Deb has us increasing our goal twice. Please consider donating more or less - whatever you want - to this fundraiser to celebrate Deb Forbes's bittersweet but well-deserved retirement from Orangetheory!
