WHEN IT HAPPENED AND WHAT HAPPENED

On November 2nd, 2025, a short circuit caused a fire in my home, located in the Altamira neighborhood of Floridablanca, Colombia.

The fire started in one of the rooms and spread throughout the entire second floor, affecting my sister’s room, my parents’ room, and my own. Our neighbors and friends called the firefighters, who provided invaluable assistance in saving the rest of the house, finally extinguishing the fire that severely damaged the rooms and caused the total loss of the second floor. Due to this tragedy, we are forced to demolish much of the structure because of the risk of complete destruction, and it must be rebuilt safely as soon as possible.

On that floor were not only the bedrooms, but also our memories, family photos, and personal belongings. Although my family was not at home and is safe, the fire claimed one of our pets, which the firefighters found deceased upon entering the house.

From today, with hope and support, we begin the process of rebuilding our home.
