My name is Steve Weldon. (aka) Doc from Docs Dawgs in Sonora Ca. . I have a very dear friend here in Tuolumne County that is like a kid Brother to me. His name is Jeffrey Chauvin. Jeff has Cerebral Palsy. He has supported himself all of his adult life and He and his lovely wife Lori for over 35 years who he met in the Watch program as young adults. Lori is handicapped from a car injury as a teenager . They fell in love while both were in the watch program . This was a great love story. Lori was handicapped physically and now at the age of 60, plus is unable to climb the steps to their mobile home, and Jeff, due to his Cerebral palsy and his age is now unable to help her physically. Lori is now in a care facility and Jeff still lives in the trailer in Columbia Ca. Jeff worked at Walmart for many years as a cart handler and later as an overnight custodian before retiring at age 62. Jeff's mobile home is very old and in drastic need of major repair structurally(the floor is rotten and the roof needs major repair and it has severe black mold in the ceiling. This is a very dangerous and unhealthy situation. He can't afford with his limited Social Security income to pay for this. Jeff has worked his tail off for many years when he could have gotten on total govt assistance, but he had way too much pride to go that way. Jeff is not asking for your help. I am for Jeffs sake. He would like to keep living independently as long as he can. He wants to stay put where he does what he loves best (next to his wife) and that is being a Ham radio operator! He can't do that at an assisted living facility! Jeff has enough money coming in to buy groceries and pay bills but nothing for major repairs. This is a wonderful man. During covid Jeff was not allowed to see his wife in her room at the care facility so he would do the next best thing. He on occasion would stand outside her window in the rain and yell to Lori how much he loved her! He would buy teddy bears that talked and play them back at her window and they both would cry. If anyone wants a live example on how to treat your mate Jeff is it! He is her knight in shining armor. He visits her every day and treats her like she is the "Queen of Sheba"! Maybe if we can get the trailer repaired he might even be able to afford some kind of lift to get Lori into their home for visits! If Jeff can't get his trailer in a liveable condition he will be forced into assisted living or a care facility and he (in his words) sure as heck isn't ready for that! I hope and pray that won't ever happen to this man who is doing everything he can to stay where he is and live life to the fullest. Please help this wonderfull human being! Thanks for reading this and God Bless you all! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and Happy New Year from my heart to yours!
