Hi, I'm Rory. I'm a Deaf-Blind/AuDHD/Neurodivergent non-binary trans woman in need of support to raise funds to cover the costs of moving to a new state for the following reasons:

  • One, due to recent climate change (such as flood, wildfires, extreme winter conditions, living in high elevated mountain areas, etc.) getting worse to a point where my health issues are being affected, my primary care doctor and my team of medical specialists all have discussed and agree that I should move to a state where the air quality would be better for me and I can breathe easier. I had sinus surgery last year and while I'm breathing better, it's becoming more unsafe for me to continue living here any longer for other reasons too, which I'll discuss in a little bit.
  • Two, the closest trans health program that does the surgeries that I needed originally has been threatened to be closed down by New Hampshire's transphobic governor and while my insurance has absolutely no problem paying for my remaining gender affirming surgeries I still needed and no problem paying to have me travel to places in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut or even Philadelphia to get said remaining gender affirming surgeries that's "nearby", the surgeons in those places are having problems with accepting me as a patient and my primary care provider (who's a trans woman) and my therapist (also a trans woman) has been working nonstop to try to find a surgeon nearby that would actually accept me and get the remaining surgeries done. Unfortunately, it's at a point where I need to move elsewhere now to continue to finish up my gender transition.
  • Three, while I do live in a somewhat relatively "safe" state of Vermont that's got decent-ish legislation/laws to protect trans people, it is unfortunate that there's a massively explosive affordable housing crisis in the state to a point where I cannot afford to buy a house here with my housing choice voucher so I'm porting my housing voucher to a new state instead, where I'm now eligible for an homeownership voucher.
  • Four, I wanted to move to a state where the cost of living is ridiculously affordable (and we did a lot of research), the trans healthcare system is pretty great and more importantly, I'd be able to find the kind of work that I want to do and earn really decent money there to a point where I'll be able to afford to buy a second home in a different country and apply for dual citizenship and open a second location of my businesses in the new country eventually.
  • Five and finally, while I've lived in this wonderful Green Mountain State for 15 years now to get really decent healthcare as much as I could and to benefit from various programs/services I needed at the time due to my various disabilities, it's only a matter of time before acknowledging that Vermont might not be a "safe state" as it claims to be due to its close proximity to white supremacist groups, transphobes and violent far-right organizations that seek to harm not only me but many other trans, non-binary and various marginalized members of different communities including immigrants, BIPOC, disabled people, etc., and the fact that it's become a place where even a program like the SSP program is making it difficult for me to find an SSP to assist me on even the most important basic needs I need to get met due to the geographically isolated rural area I live in (plus there's not many SSPs available yet as they're supposed to train more SSPs eventually), I'd rather live somewhere where I can get all of that and then some, while being able to be independent and take care of myself, so this is more ideal for me than to stay here in Vermont. Plus, I'd have a much better support system, more of my friends to be accessible to me, a really good place to live that'd improve my quality of life health-wise and more importantly, be able to actually work and earn decent money again since there's no work here in Vermont for someone like me unfortunately in the kind of industry that I work in.

Your support would go towards the following costs/expenses such as:

  • Moving truck from Penske (I'm not using a truck from U-Haul due to U-Haul allowing certain far-right extremist groups to rent their trucks) and plus, with Penske, I don't have to pay for mileage. I just pay for the truck and it's cheaper too!
  • Moving supplies (I'd be buying plastic tote boxes that's clear and easy to pack everything up as cardboard boxes can get unsanitary eventually and it's just better for the environment long-term)
  • Start-up fees of utilities (such as electric, internet, water/gas if any and so forth).
  • Security Deposit
  • Paying for the first month's worth of groceries/household supplies to hold me over for a while until everything is officially transferred over to Nevada.
  • Dilator Kit for my upcoming vaginoplasty surgery (which is required and medically necessary so that after my surgery the dilator kit will help me keep things... ahem... open and functional).
  • Paying for my friend's train ticket to go back home (they've volunteered to drive the moving truck with me to Nevada and drop off the truck and take the train back)
  • Paying my friend to help do a deep cleaning of my townhouse before I move out (which is $100).
  • Paying for food/lodging on the way to Nevada with the truck.
  • Hiring professional movers to meet us in Nevada to help unpack everything and unload everything off the truck at my new home.

Moving to Nevada would not only allow me to have real financial stability, but have real independence to be able to have more work in the kind of industry I work in, be able to earn decent money again, finish up my remaining gender affirming surgeries and so much more. If anything is left over, it's going towards paying off the car for my friends or future roommates to use anytime and to help open up a business in the industry I work in as well as to put a down payment on a house I'll be buying to become a new homeowner soon - I'm going to temporarily rent for a few months or so for a while somewhere in Southern Nevada until I find the perfect dream home and start working on building everything I want and need to make things happen.

Any support you can offer will make a huge difference for me as I start this new chapter. Thank you for helping me build a brighter future, especially one where I will be healthier, happier, more financially stable, etc.
