Let’s Help This Amazing Family Rebuild After Calamity
Donation protected
After surviving homelessness, family trauma, and financial collapse, Oliver Wade and his two daughters — Lily (11) and Indigo (8) — are finally on the edge of stability. But they need your help to stay housed, safe, and together.
Where They Are Now
The family recently arrived in Austin, TX and was accepted into a local support program for unhoused families. They have temporary shelter secured through June 17, and Oliver starts working as a rideshare driver this week. He’s also actively applying for long-term work in digital marketing, copywriting, and email marketing, but his initial earnings won’t fully cover their basic family expenses.
How They Got Here
For years, Oliver and the girls lived in Saint Petersburg, Florida, where he ran a small digital marketing agency alongside their mother.
However, after years of struggling with addiction and mental illness, on January 3rd 2024, she totaled her car, got a DUI, and was found days later in jail — marking the beginning of a year of turmoil.
As the year progressed, her mental health worsened with all-day drinking, substance abuse, and frequent blackouts. In October, during a drunken stupor, she fell and hit her head, devastatingly leading to a TBI and total psychological collapse.
Meanwhile, their business had been falling apart with disaster team meetings and client calls. In December, she left the family home.
In February 2025, with no income, rising rent, depleted savings, and nowhere to go, Oliver and the girls were forced to leave the home too.
They spent months traveling from Florida to North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee — hoping to find a good place to start over. However, a series of roadblocks and complications derailed their plans.
Through it all, Oliver protected the girls and ensured they remained safe, loved, and consistently cared for.
Eventually, they scraped together enough for bus tickets to Austin, spending their first night at the Greyhound station, their second night at a hotel with their last $100, and the third at a park where Oliver stood guard.
Why This Family Deserves Support
Despite everything, Lily and Indigo are thriving. Lily recently scored in the 99th percentile nationally on her standardized tests — while in the midst of crisis. Indigo is imaginative, joyful, and full of life. Both girls continue to flourish under Oliver’s dedicated care.
Oliver is drug- and alcohol-free, deeply committed to breaking generational cycles, and focused on creating a stable life of safety and purpose for his daughters.
He’s the author of a children’s book titled May All Your Dreams Come True, inspired by Indigo (encouraging kids to be true to themselves and never forget their precious worth), and previously co-founded a nonprofit that served over 50,000 hot meals to families in the slums of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Their family has endured relentless adversity but they have refused to grow bitter. Their faith and determination are strong, and they look forward to settling into Austin and making a contribution within the community!
