Hello Friends
Razika Hadef and her son, Nadji (class of 11 FB) we’re in a pretty bad car accident this last Friday. Their car was tolled. Razika spent a part of the night in the ER. She has a cracked Sternum, intense headaches; her whole chest area & breasts has been badly bruised. She is in quite a lot of pain and discomfort. She is now at home resting. Luckily Nadji was fine. On her way home from picking up Nadji from the Burbank Campus; a car came crashing into their car at full speed from the back to avoid killing a squirrel.
Many of you are familiar with Razika's situation and have supported and helped Razika since she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer metastatic to the liver. It’s, unfortunately an incurable disease with ongoing chemotherapy treatment, which has made her unable to work for quite some time in addition to being a single mom with no family in the Country. Razika worked at the Lila Los Feliz campus as part of the security team til she was too sick to work. Nadji has been a student at Lila since kindergarten or 1st grade. Your support & generosity has made it possible for her and Nadji to sustain a somewhat normal life here in Los Angeles.
It’s amazing frankly after speaking to her for a while last night about her finances that they’ve been able to make it with her little income. Now with this recent accident and her being physically disabled again for a short while, it will put them in a critical situation. Her landlord has also just informed her that her rent will be going up 100% starting this next month.
Can we possibly gather together a bit more financially (no matter how little) to help her through these next few months while she becomes physically able to work again, procure a new vehicle, find another source of income. We realize that everyone is going through hard times in many ways, some of us more then others. Some people can only get through hard times with the support of others.
Something a friend said to me a few years back that always stuck with me, she works with Refugee Organizations in Los Angeles & around the world. We we’re putting food into her car from our Lila Fête to bring to one of the places where many refugee families where staying just outside of L.A.
She said “You know these families are really just like us. They are not that different from the families here at the school. They had good jobs and homes. It was just a succession of one bad event after another that made it impossible for them to bounce back."
Hopefully we can be there for this family so that they can bounce back from these unfortunate events. Any amount given Razika said will be a blessing. Thank you!!
